The Doug Thompson Memorial Gauntlet Club is made up of Outstanding Players on the Fountain Valley Varsity Football Team.

To become a member of this elite group, a player must consistently display qualities associated with former Fountain Valley Quarterback Doug Thompson, such as desire, hustle, second effort, courage, loyalty, leadership and he must be an outstanding example of what a coach expects of the best athlete. Any varsity football player is eligible for this award. However, he must be unanimously selected by his varsity coaching staff. The recipient of this award will have his name placed permanently on the Gauntlet Board and will receive a plaque in honor of his selection.
